Putin is gobbling Ukraine.
The non-American West is wringing its hands.
The vacationing American president isn’t even doing that; he’s at the beach.
In the 1994 Budapest Agreement, Ukraine agreed to remove all nuclear weapons from its territory in return for a commitment by Russia, Britain and the US, “to respect the independence and sovereignty and existing borders of Ukraine.”
Have you heard of Britain not living up to an agreement to respect sovereignty, and what happened next…?
But now America, the global guarantor of peace for generations (until we elected the Communist dictator in the White House) also is refusing to live up to its commitment.
And the reaction to the destruction of sovereignty and liberty of a free nation by a Left so enamored of talk & treaties? Crickets.
Tell me – how would their reaction differ if the destruction of liberty … was their goal?
No, I am not advocating nuclear war with Russia. No, Russia cannot be stopped conventionally. Ukraine is done. They just haven’t yet accepted it. And, yes, (here comes the “D” word for those recalling the geopolitical arguments in the 1970s), the Baltic and Central European states will fall like … dominos, just as did SE Asia after the Left bailed on their treaty ending that war.
The fault is with a supine West that has chosen peace over liberty for the first time ever in their history.
The fault is with a West that has chosen the convenience of below-replacement fertility for generations, choosing lattes over a future.
What are Western leaders showing a world that has remained basically at-peace since 1945?
That talk & treaties are worthless.
What are Western leaders, political and military, implicitly advocating in the non-response to the violations of Ukraine’s “guaranteed” sovereignty?
Nuclear proliferation.
The West is proving to the world that the ONLY way for smaller states to protect themselves from bigger States (Japan from China), from nascent empires (E Europe from Russia), and from the fast-growing barbarism and savagery of an islam that will not be stopped by bullets alone, and certainly not at a conventional cost that low-fertility States can absorb… is to have nukes and to be willing to use them.
The logic is simple and inescapable: Had Ukraine not given-up its nukes, Russia would not be pushing through the door.
The non-serious reaction to Putin’s venture is an advertisement FOR proliferation.
And you can bet that Japan, S Korea, Saudi Arabia, Poland, Czech, the Baltic States, having seen this movie before, are nuking-up.
What is the Western Left proving right now?
That their use of talk & treaties is subterfuge for gaining empire.
They don’t care about national sovereignty. If you ever thought they did, Ukraine ought to disabuse you of that naiveté. The EU? Forced down the throats of Europeans by the Left as a step toward empire. The destruction of the primary-but-one symbol of sovereignty – the euro? Shoved down the throats of those using it (not one nation that was allowed to vote on it accepted it; the euro is in-use only where autocratic governments forced it on their people).
And the PRIMARY symbol of sovereignty – borders? They no longer exist in Europe or America. Not through choice, but through the force of Leftist governments against their citizens.
The goal of the Left? World government. The gobbling of small states supports that goal. The non-reaction to Russia of the Left now in charge across W Europe and America… supports that goal.
Obama’s refusal to engage major geopolitical issues… supports that goal.
The lack of real action by the West (no, infantry battles sacrificing civilized people to barbaric savages one bullet or artillery round or bomb at a time is not serious) against the growing despotic empire of islam, in fact the support of the media and academia across the West for that savage expansion, and the demand that an independent State stop defending herself FROM this expansion, is more evidence that the Left, in America and Europe, can no longer abide small, free nations.
And the only way those nations will be able to defend themselves, their people, and their liberties against this encroachment by despotic powers?
Nuclear weapons.
Obama and NATO are a walking, talking argument FOR nuclear proliferation by smaller states under attack.
If you are against the use of nuclear weapons, you must also be against the Left. Any other stance is un-serious and illogical. At this time in history, supporting the Left is supporting the proliferation and use of nuclear weapons.
The chaos into which the Left in Europe and America has allowed the globe to sink likely has become too large to stop in any conventional manner. It likely has gone on too long, with too many generations of post-war Leftists living in fantasy safety and feeling that safety and peace are normal across human existence, to be stopped by talk, treaty or guns.
The point at which liberty will only survive if its enemies are annihilated is almost here for America. It probably already has passed for Europe. Only Israel’s willingness to defend itself against Western opinion at the same time it must defend itself against rockets provided by an iran on which Obama has unilaterally reduced sanctions has allowed Israel to exist this long.
The light of global liberty is going out.
The Left is turning it off.
Liberty will remain in part of America if and only if Red States secede and show themselves fully ready to defend themselves from a Left intent on liberty’s destruction.
What choice will you make for the future of YOUR children?
